Flight to Antalya or Dalaman airport. After meeting the group, we will have a transfer to Fethiye. Hotel check-in. We will have lunch on our own at one of the cozy local restaurants. Then, we take a walk to the Lycian tombs, where we can enjoy scenic views before descending to the coastline. In the evening, we will have dinner at a local restaurant.
Early in the morning, we depart for the village of Kayaköy, where our hiking route begins. Kayaköy is a former Greek village that was abandoned after its inhabitants were relocated in 1924. It remains a ghost town to this day. We will stroll through its streets, see its unique houses, doors, windows, and churches that have preserved the atmosphere of the past. Our hike starts with a gentle ascent among the ruins, followed by a walk along the ancient Lycian Way, passing through scenic bays and shaded pine forests. The route will lead us to Ölüdeniz, where we will take a break to swim in the crystal-clear sea. Optional: Those who wish will have the opportunity to experience paragliding from Mount Babadağ. At the end of the route, we will be transferred to our hotel in Fethiye.
Route: Ovacık – Kozagac – Kirme – Faralya (Start at 350 m, ascent 400 m, descent 350 m) After a short transfer to the starting point of the Lycian Way, we begin our hike. The first few kilometers lead us uphill, offering panoramic views of the turquoise waters of Ölüdeniz and the surrounding mountain ranges. After approximately three hours, we will reach the village of Kozagac, where we will take a break and enjoy a traditional lunch in a welcoming village house. Continuing past Kirme, we will gradually descend into Faralya, a village nestled in one of the most picturesque locations in the region—the Butterfly Valley. Overnight stay in a local hotel with a sunset view over the valley.
The hike begins right from the hotel. The morning greets us with a breathtaking view of the magical Butterfly Valley, where blue butterflies flutter, creating a truly special atmosphere. The route follows cliffs that hang above the sea, leading us to the secluded Aktas Beach, where we will take a lunch break. We then continue along the coastline. After two hours of peaceful walking, we reach Kabak Bay, where we will have the opportunity to enjoy the sea and relax. At the end of the day, we will be transferred to our hotel.
After breakfast, we head to Kaş – a charming town on the Mediterranean coast. Here, if you wish, you can take a short break and enjoy a snack at one of the local cafés. We then continue our journey deeper into the forest. The route passes through small, secluded beaches, where we will make stops for swimming. The day will unfold at a comfortable pace – short ascents will alternate with descents. Surrounding us are volcanic rocks, creating an enchanting landscape. Lava fragments can even be found in some of the bays. This route is particularly attractive as it takes us far from inhabited areas – just nature, mountains, forest, and the sea. The final stop of the route will be Üzümlü Bay, where we will have the opportunity to refresh ourselves in the water before heading back to the hotel.
Ancient Journey from Boğazcık to Üçağız 8 km / 5 hours (Elevation gain: 160 m) Our morning will begin with a transfer to the village of Boğazcık, from where we will head to the ruins of the ancient city of Apollonia. This site holds thousands of years of history, with its preserved structures dating back to the 5th century BC. In the city, we can see the remains of an ancient amphitheater, churches, and Roman baths. Unlike popular tourist destinations, Apollonia remains secluded, allowing you to slowly immerse yourself in its ancient atmosphere. The route then leads us towards the coast – we will descend to the sea and take a break for swimming. Afterward, we will continue our journey by sea, completing the rest of the route by boat. The day will end in the picturesque village of Üçağız, where we will stay overnight in a comfortable hotel.
After Breakfast – A Light Hike Near our campsite, on a small hill, lie the ruins of the ancient Lycian city of Kale, also known as Simena. Its history dates back to the 4th century BC. An earthquake in ancient times partially submerged the city underwater, giving it a unique and mysterious charm. From the top of the hill, you can see the silhouettes of sarcophagi, ancient tombs, and columns, while at the foot of the hill, the ruins of Roman baths can still be found. At midday, we will transfer to Antalya. Another wonderful week of our journey has come to an end. We say farewell, but we hope to see you again on one of our future trips through Lycia!
